    Description

    This is a great Christmas Holiday Ornament - featuring the H.L. HUNLEY - a privateer submarine which on its first mission sank a Union warship off Charleston Harbor during the Civil War - in 1864.  The submarine was also lost at sea soon after the warship sunk.  After a remarkable search the submarine was found and is being restored and preserved in a great museum complex in Charleston.  This ornament commemorates the first sinking of a ship by a submarine on February 17, 1864.  The ornament is boxed NEW - it is unused it has a gold cord style hanger - the ornament is a lightweight die cut brass layered over in a 24kt gold flashing.  The outer box measures approx. 3 1/4" x 3 1/4" in size.  Item is as pictured.  A great collectible ornament featuring the Civil War Confederate Submarine - H.L.
