    I bought this plate several years ago on eBay as a South Carolina Militia Plate but after receiving it, I feel this is a repo applied SC Palmetto device that was added to an original period plate. I’ve had several opinions that it could have been done for an South Carolina United Confederate Veteran to wear at reunions. Just don’t know the true origin.
    I personally think this belt plate, dates from the 1870s to the early 1900s.
    . This is a good representative belt plate buckle that would look good in any collection.
