During his sculpting efforts, nationally recognized historical artist Gary Casteel found time to create paintings of the battlefield for a special exhibition in Gettysburg.  “The Gettysburg Landscapes” series was displayed in the old Cyclorama when it was located across from the national cemetery.  The paintings, mostly 24” x 36” in size, were watercolor on clay board.  Mr. Casteel’s goal was to tell the story, to relay the history and create a work of art to be appreciated.
This collection of the 12 paintings featured in that special exhibition is offered as a beautifully bound, layflat hardcover book and includes a description of the history that each image portrays.  This extremely limited edition of 50 books celebrates the Gettysburg battlefield as interpreted through the paintings of historical artist Gary Casteel.  Where others paint only battle scenes or portrayals of famous commanders, Mr. Casteel chose the landscape of Gettysburg to tell the story of the battle.
The remarques drawn by Mr. Casteel will be unique to each book and result in a different drawing in each of the 50 books.
Truly unique and collectible copies that you will not find anywhere else.
Specific remarques can be requested for Mr. Casteel to draw, as can be shown in the examples listed.
